Meet the 2021 Young SIOP awardees - Marloes van Gorp

Hi there! For the coming weeks, our blog will be dedicated to our Young SIOP Award winners!

Please meet Marloes van Gorp, YI from the Netherlands, in her own words.

After starting my career as a physiotherapist, I obtained a PhD in rehabilitation medicine. In this PhD project I studied the development of activities and participation in individuals with cerebral palsy, with a special focus on the challenges they encounter during their transition into adult roles.

Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology, where the care and research in childhood cancer in the Netherlands is concentrated. The core mission of the center is to cure every child with cancer with the best quality of life. Optimizing health-related quality of life of children with cancer, survivors and their families is the subject of our research in the Psycho-Oncology research group. In this research group I collaborate in several research projects, studying health-related quality of life, risk factors and interventions.
