Join us at the SLAOP - SIOP YI session in Ecuador!

Hi there!

My name is Liliana Vásquez, pediatric oncologist from Lima, Peru and I am happy to announce the III SLAOP-SIOP session of Young Investigators to be held on April 3, 2019 in Guayaquil, Ecuador  (Pre-congress meeting of SLAOP 2019). In 2017 and 2018 at Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo, respectively, our SIOP YI group jointly with the Latin American Society of Pediatric Oncology (SLAOP) organized a regional educational day for all Latin American young professionals with interest in research in pediatric oncology. These meeting were a real success in audience (almost 70 attendees!) giving the opportunity to many local junior investigators to attend outstanding lectures about research and SIOP activities (see pictures below).

This year in Ecuador, featured speakers for the session are prestigious local and international researchers including Monika Metzger, Paola Friedrich, (St. Jude Hospital, USA), Cesar Nuñez (MD Anderson Cancer Center, USA), Karina Ribeiro (Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo), Guillermo Chantada (Garrahan Hospital, Argentina), Sumit Gupta (SickKids Hospital, Canada) and Sandra Luna-Fineman (Colorado Hospital, USA).

The program will include lectures on:

·         How to get involved in research?

·         Translational medicine: From the basics to the clinical

·         Pre-clinical models in pediatric oncology

·         Latin American experiences of success in research

·         Mentoring for young researchers

·         International collaboration and "twinning"

·         Tips in writing manuscripts and reviewing articles

·         How to survive the peer-review?
