Meet the SIOP YI Awardees 2020 - Eden Robertson

Please meet Eden Robertson, YI from Australia, in her own words.



Dr Eden Robertson is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Behavioural Sciences Unit (BSU) at UNSW and Sydney Children’s Hospital, and a 2020 Fulbright Scholar.  She received her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) in 2012, and went on to complete her PhD (Medicine, Paediatrics) in 2019 for which she received the UNSW Dean’s Award for an Outstanding Thesis.

Dr Robertson’s research focuses on supporting families and clinicians navigate the complexities of treatment decision-making. She is committed to improving to quality and equity of patient- and family-centred care within paediatric oncology. Her PhD involved the development and evaluation of the world’s first decision aid for families deciding whether to enrol in a clinical trial. Her research has expanded to now include the exploration of decision-making for precision medicine and treatment for incurable brain cancers. Dr Robertson works closely with clinicians and consumers to ensure that her research is translational and successfully implemented into clinical practice.  

She has also contributed to the field through publication of 21 peer-reviewed articles, presenting at 30+ national and international conferences, supervision of students, and holding numerous leadership roles.
